ALEXINA B.
AN OPERA BY RAQUEL GARCÍA-TOMÁS

Alexina B. An Opera by Raquel García-Tomás (dir. Alexis Borràs) tells the story of the creative process of the new opera by the composer Raquel García-Tomás (1984), National Music Prize 2020, from the moment she decides to rescue the story of Alexina Barbin, one of the first intersex people who was recognised as such in 19th century France, until its premiere at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

The documentary follows the overcoming of Raquel García-Tomás who, like Alexina herself, manages to put a grain of salt in the social transformation to overcome inequalities based on sex and gender. An invisible thread that links the struggles for equality from the 19th century to the present day.
