Alexina B. Vides en composició (dir. Alexis Borràs)

Documentary, 90′, color, digital, 2023.

Raquel García-Tomás embarks on the composition of Alexina B., an opera inspired by the essential reference of the intersex collective, becoming the second female composer to premiere in the main hall of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in 175 years of history. In this artistic journey, Raquel García-Tomás transforms her approach to intersex reality into a source of empathy and inspiration, weaving a profound and sensitive work that not only brings Alexina B.’s story back to life, giving visibility to a silenced community.

We accompany Raquel’s exploration of the intersex collective through her meeting with Camino Baró in the French town of Saint-Jean-d’Angély, the birthplace of Herculine Barbin, as well as through the testimony of Jordi Suárez.
